HJ Hong
Fall 2019 Cohort. Columbia ‘22.
“At Romulus, I have not only learned about what it takes to be a great analyst but more importantly the steps of becoming a great investor. Romulus nurtures this mindset of having a personal investment thesis with freedom in chasing after the companies you are truly passionate about. Romulus has the most supportive and entrepreneurial team I have worked with - the rest of the team is always happy to listen and put forth tangible action as a group to your ideas.”
HJ sourced and led the due diligence for Branch Technologies $11M Series B.
-
Tyler Savitsky
Spring 2020 Cohort. Harvard ‘21.
“I spent three years playing professional soccer before coming back to campus, where I met Joey. Romulus has been instrumental in my growth, both as a professional and as a person, by allowing me autonomy to explore whatever topic I find interesting, pushing me to drive towards positive results and surrounding me with caring and intelligent teammates. If you are relentlessly inquisitive, not afraid to make mistakes and excited about technology, the sky is the limit in terms of what you are able to accomplish at Romulus.”
Tyler joined as a summer associate after his fellowship class and was hired full-time. He has led the diligence 2 Seed deals.
-
Anoushka Ramkumar
Spring 2020 Cohort. Yale ‘23.
“My experience with the investment process at Romulus has been exceptionally refreshing and rewarding. The team is like no other: encouraging, collaborative, hungry, and most importantly fun to work with. It’s the fantastic group of passionate individuals that makes this firm special.”
Anoushka took some time off of school to join the team full-time. She went onto source and lead the diligence for two deals (Skillit, Deal to be announced), deploying over $3M.
-
Inaki Arango
Fall 2020 Cohort. Rice ‘25.
“The fellowship was an amazing opportunity to familiarize myself with the work done by VCs on a daily basis. I got to use my research skills to create a mental map of the clinical trials recruiting space, and within the construction space, I worked on the team due diligence for Flexbase, a startup aiming to decrease the time it takes for contractors to get paid.”
Inaki joined as a summer associate after his fellowship class where he sourced a $250,000 Seed deal within his first summer.
-
Brian Wu
Spring 2021 Cohort. Stanford ‘24.
“I was challenged to stretch my mind in directions I've never experienced before. I learned how to read investment memos, judge the quality of pitches, founders, and pain points, and conduct due diligence research for companies that Romulus eventually would invest in. Venture Capital is a hard industry to enter - most university-level VCs don't get much deal experience beyond sourcing and the occasional due diligence. Not so at Romulus - I was guided to explore the entire deal flow process from start to finish. Romulus fellows aren't those who simply do it for a resume stamp; they do it because they are genuinely curious to understand how, and why, those who build the world through technology do so.”
Brian joined as a summer associate and worked with Inaki to diligence a $250,000 Seed deal within his first summer.

Alex Pliskin
Fall 2021 Cohort. Columbia ‘20.
“The Romulus Venture Fellowship was an incredible way for me to get real VC experience in due diligence, speaking with founders, and sourcing new deals in growing entrepreneurial spaces. I gained a great deal of knowledge from hands on experience with startups in a diverse array of fields, from construction technology to commodity trade finance and everything in between.”
Alex was a summer analyst at Goldman Sachs and the VP of Product at Columbia Build Lab. After his fellowship, he became the youngest Product Manager at AltoIRA (Series A, $30M+ raised).
